HYC Awarded the "Excellent Quality Award 2024" by ICC

On December 16, 2024, HYC's Multicore Fiber Fan-in & Fan-out (FIFO) devices and Multicore connectors were honored with the "Excellent Quality Award" by the ICC Optical Communication Industry Hero Ranking for 2024.

Multicore Fiber Fan-in & Fan-out (FIFO) Devices

The widespread application of Multicore Fiber (MCF) faces the challenge of efficiently connecting with traditional single-core fibers. Spatial multiplexers/demultiplexers, also known as Fan-in/Fan-out (FIFO) devices, provide an effective solution for coupling light from a single-core fiber into a multicore fiber or from a multicore fiber into a single-core fiber. This enables the connection between multicore fibers and standard single-core fibers.


Leveraging advanced space optics design platform and mature precision coupling capabilities, HYC’s four-core MCF FIFO uses advanced optical design, employing lenses, prisms, and other optical components to adjust and optimize the coupling between MCF and multiple single-core fibers, achieving optimal coupling efficiency in a compact device structure with balanced performance.

Multicore Fiber Optical Connectors (LC-type/FC-type/MC-type)

Currently, the connection between multicore fibers usually uses fusion splicing. However, since each multicore fiber may have different core pitches, the splicing process is not only difficult but also costly in terms of post-maintenance. HYC has developed optical connectors specifically designed for multicore fiber connections. These connectors are modified based on traditional LC/FC interface types, optimizing the positioning and retention features and improving the polishing coupling process. This ensures minimal insertion loss variation after multiple couplings, providing a practical alternative to expensive fusion splicing, thus ensuring ease of use. Furthermore, HYC has designed a unique MC connector that is smaller than traditional connectors, making it ideal for more densely packed spaces.


In addition to the two products above, HYC is also working with customers to jointly develop MCF-Receptacles for future chip connections, as well as MCF Hybrid devices for MC-EDFA optical amplification systems, such as MCF Isolator TAP, MCF 980/1550 WDMs, and MCF GFF (Gain-flattening filters).


Thanks to its innovative technological advantages in the multicore fiber field, HYC has won the “Excellent Quality Award" in ICC's Optical Communication Industry Hero Ranking for 2024. This achievement marks HYC’s continued efforts and accomplishments in advancing optical fiber communication technology and industry development. In the future, HYC will continue to follow industry trends, actively driving the ongoing upgrade of multicore fiber and next-generation optical connectivity technologies to meet the growing market demand and create new milestones in optical communication technology.
