Recently, optical communication companies have announced their financial reports for 2022. According to ICC analysis, the revenue growth rate of listed optical communication companies has slowed down compared with last year. In 2022, among the more than 100 domestic and foreign listed companies counted by ICC, the overall revenue of the communication industry will be US$2,916.116 billion, a year-on-year increase of 2.79%. The gross profit rate is 52.24%, and the net profit rate is 14.34%.
In terms of segments:
The capex of North American cloud vendors continued to improve year-on-year and quarter-on-quarter, and the capital expenditure of Internet operators increased. The total revenue of Internet content providers in 2022 will be US$1,769.761 billion, an increase of 3.55% compared to US$1,709.109 billion in 2021.
The total revenue of telecom operators was US$693.496 billion, a decrease of 3.92% compared with US$721.818 billion in the same period last year. 5G and broadband network deployments have slowed down compared to before.
The total revenue of system equipment manufacturers was US$236.929 billion, a year-on-year increase of 1.44%. Due to supply chain constraints, costs have risen, which has had a certain impact on the profitability of equipment manufacturers.
The overall performance of test equipment manufacturers was good, with a year-on-year increase of 1.59%.
The total revenue of active component manufacturers in 2022 will be US$11.577 billion, an increase of 4.85% compared to US$11.042 billion in the same period last year; the total revenue of passive component manufacturers in 2022 will be US$9.372 billion, an increase of 5.35% from US$8.896 billion in the same period last year; the revenue growth of device manufacturers is mainly due to the strong demand in the global communication infrastructure construction and broadband access market in 2022.
The total revenue of parts and materials manufacturers in 2022 will be US$1.088 billion, a decrease of 11.77% compared with US$1.233 billion in the same period last year.
The total revenue of optical fiber and cable manufacturers in 2022 will reach US$96.904 billion, an increase of 18.75% over the US$81.603 billion in the same period last year. Influenced by new infrastructure such as 5G, F5G and East-to-West computing in China, Europe and the United States have increased investment in 5G and optical fiber network infrastructure.
The chip industry is booming, with revenue of US$95.21 billion, a year-on-year increase of 18.57%.
